A special message from 6 Brick’s LLC
and the Shubrick Family:
In response to the racist acts that have come to light over the past several weeks,
we at 6 Brick’s wanted to directly address the deep frustration, sadness, anger, and outrage that is weighing heavily on all us. 6 Brick’s is a company 100% owned by people of color. The senseless and violent deaths of Ahmaud Arbery, Breonna Taylor, George Floyd, and too many others, coupled with the delay in bringing justice against those responsible are harsh reminders of the prejudice and bigotry that continue to exist in our country.
What we have seen flooding our timelines, television, and day to day life this past weekend from violence and riots to prayer vigils and peaceful protest are symptoms of deeper issues of racism and inequality that plagues our society. While we at 6 Brick’s may not have the answers on how to fix these things please know that we stand proudly with the African American and black community as it boils down to three words: black lives matter.
Here, at home, black lives have mattered and always made a difference; in so much of the success that is Springfield, to the courage and leadership of community leaders and icons like Primus Mason. The 6 Brick’s mission statement and the efforts of all of us here, are to help heal and positively empower our community in every way.
We look forward to opening soon but in the meantime, we promise to stand with victims of racism and hate crimes of any kind. We can do better as a country and we must. If not for ourselves but for our children and grandchildren. In the words of James Baldwin “Not everything that is faced can be changed, but nothing can be changed until it is faced.”
Stay safe & be well,
6 Brick’s Management & Shubrick Family
